Here at International Upholstery we believe that quality starts in the inside. The construction of our pieces always starts with a kiln-dried Alder wood frame with dowel construction. From there we use 8 way hand tied stainless steel coil springs with jute twine. Rest assured that we do not use prefabricated coil spring sections but rather each and every coil spring in your piece is individually placed by an experienced professional. They will place each spring according to comfort appropriate to the piece. From there we apply H.R. foam and heavy duty decking. H.R. foam is a high resiliency foam that will not lose its shape in 6 months as the low end foam does, indeed it comes with a 25 year warranty!!
Dacron, 50/50 cotton, and down are all part of our impressive arsenal and we use them appropriately for each piece. All furniture is covered in muslin before the fabric is applied. This allows you and your client to review the piece before the fabric is cut. Here you can test the foam density, comfort, and the overall look of the piece.
A H.R. foam core is wrapped 3 to 4 times in Dacron, this gives both support and comfort to any cushion. All down cushions are made with channels to prevent bunching of the down and feather-proof ticking to prevent feathers from escaping. For our down cushions, we use only the highest quality Canadian goose down.
